Black Bean Chili

 Black Bean Chili

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup red bell pepper
4 cloves of garlic
1 6oz can tomato paste
1 Tbsp cumin
1 Tbsp paprika
2 bay leaves
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cayenne
salt and pepper to taste
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
2 cans black beans
1-2 cups broth or water

Fry up your beef in a large pot.   When it's browned, drain.  Add onions, pepper and garlic to the pan.  Stir in tomato paste and spices, combine well.  Add 1/2-1 cup of water to scrape up any bits from the pan.  Add tomatoes and beans and bring to a boil.  Turn down the heat and let simmer for 1 hour.

You could make this in the crockpot.  The longer it simmers the better the flavors blend together.
