Peanut Butter Stars

I love these cookies!  They are little bite size ones you just pop in your mouth.

1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 Tbsp milk
1 egg
Chocolate star candies

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.  Blend at low speed until it becomes stiff.  Roll cookies into 1 inch balls.  Roll into sugar.  Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes.  Place a star on top after taking out of the oven.  Then let the cool, and the chocolate star will reharden.

My sister likes to use hershey kisses instead of chocolate stars.  I love the chocolate stars for 2 reasons.  First it reminds me of when I was growing up and would make these, secondly, the hershey kiss is bigger, harder to bite into, not to mention you have to unwrap them all.

Roll them into balls.
 Roll them in sugar.
Bake them without flattening them by hand.
They will still stay rounded.  They flatten more when you push the chocolate down into it.

Enjoy! :)

I love making them with Hershey's kisses also. Last year I used the mint ones and they were wonderful!
