Top Tooth

I'm glad I decided to write this post because it is reminding me, er....um....I mean it is reminding the tooth fairy to visit before morning comes. :)

Ok, my kids  know I'm the tooth fairy.  I don't want to be a liar.  Call me silly.

He's lost four teeth on the bottom so far, but now Bear lost his first Top Tooth....he's now going to have a temporary speech impediment. :)  heehee.

So exciting.

Organization-Wall Art#1

When the kids make a picture that is (don't tell them this) but, not really worthy of keeping forever....eh hem....  you still want to do something with is as to not squish their desire to continue drawing, or coloring or something.  So this is something I came up with a while back.  There is only so much room on the frig, and that is pretty much taken care of with the other papers of life.  So I made them their own little board to stick their accomplishments too.  Here's a simple way to solve this problem.

I bought the 12x12 corkboards and used ribbon to hang them in their room.  Now they can hang all their pictures up in their room.  When the board is too full, you have to toss one out to fit in the newest one.  They get to pick which one that is.  Of course if something is truly a masterpiece, find a file for yourself to keep them in, and then click here to see how you can bind them together and make a book for the year of their best masterpieces!

Next on my to-do list is an updated crafty version of this that I'm hoping to make soon.  Check back some time to see when I make this next project!

Carrot Stamp Art

Turn a carrot into a stamp! :)

Take a full size carrot and cut it half to make two stamps.
Then I cut the fatter end flat.  Last I cut/shaved it to make it a shape.

A line, rectangle, circle, star, triangle, and hexagon.

Then get out some cardstock, and some paints....and make a shape creation!

This was my example for them on how to use it as a stamp and not slide it like a brush.
We wanted to see each shape on the page.

And their final creations. :)

Happy Crafting! :)

Craft time, Marble(ous) Maze!

Craft of the day!
Marble Straw Maze

First I found a box...you can use whatever size you have laying around.  I could only find a big box lid.  I taped paper together to line the inside of the box.  Then we drew our maze design on the paper.

Next we cut straws and glued them onto our lines for the maze walls.

Let it dry and then use a marble to find your way through your own maze....or your brother's. :)

Children's Bible/Devotions

Here are some great bible/devotionals we have used with our children and loved them.

We started with this one as a gift from friends.
Great short little stories you can read to your kids before bed.

Then we changed up to this book.  Which is great for little kids.
It's called the Read 'n' See Bible dvd...
It presents the stories in short formats, and it also has a dvd with the book.  On the dvd it has each story that you can listen, and it basically shows the picture from the book, but it adds a little extra variation with sound and voice, plus at the end of each story there is a sing-along song that goes with each story.  Great fun!

Next we have used the Gotta Have God Devotions....we have 2 now.

One that is ages 2-5 and another that is ages 6-9.  Check them out.  They are quick little devos, that focus on one verse to learn, and then a short story regarding what the verse in talking about.  There's a question to answer at the end, or to make you think about what you just read.  Then a little activity on the next page.  There is more than one for each age group, and this is a boys version, there is also a girls version and many more.

Lastly, our newest bible purchase.  It's the Jesus Storybook Bible.

This is a super great bible story book.  It brings every story back to Jesus!  Great read for any age.  And really great pictures.  You're kids are sure to love this one!

Just so you know we read 1 chapter from the regular bible every morning.....then, these fun shortened bible stories are what we read at night before bed time.
