Stinky rags?

Do you ever find that your rag that you just wiped the counter off with, STINKS..and now your hands and counter stink too? Well, I had a little secret shared with me awhile back, that I thought I’d pass on incase you didn’t know either.

The secret to getting the stink out of your rags is to boil it for 10-15 minutes, stirring it with a wooden spoon. Then drain them in a colander and let them cool before washing them. It’s a non chemical way to get your rags clean, and it will kill the germs/mildew that might survive your regular wash cycle. And it doesn’t just cover the smell, but results in a rag that smells good instead of stinky.

For real, you should try it. I’m boiling a rag as we speak. :) But my hands still stink from it so now I have to go wash my hands to rid the smell, and rewash the counter with a different rag. :)

Insert hand washing noise here, and boiling noise.....

Mmmmm....fresh smelling hands, and fresh smelling rags!

  1. That's a great tip, I'll have to try it soon! I've been noticing that our washcloths are stinky even after the first use, and I didn't know why!
