Randomness v38

1- Monkey- Mom, I miss you being normal.
2- Bear- He can't pick him up, but He can pick him up!

(huh?!)

3- Bear- "Ok, let me go ask mom.  Dad, can I watch him play that?"

4- Monkey- It feels like ice cream in here.

5- TJ- my back hurts.
Me- my head hurts.
TJ- I'll walk on your head, if you walk on my back.

6- Monkey- "Bear, would you like to play with me?"
Bear- "Yes, I would love to play with you!  Do you want to play with me?"
Monkey- (weird look on his face) "Uh,  that's what I just asked you."

7- TJ- What game do you want to play tonight?
Monkey- Old Maid River

8- Monkey- Dad, quick think!
TJ- the expression is think quick.
Me- Actually the expression is "Think Fast"

Growth Experiment-corn

Use popcorn, and see how water in the environment has an effect over a dry environment.

Here's what you get....

First set it up exactly the same.

Some corn on a wet paper towel, covered by a wet paper towel.  Then covered with tin foil.

Do the same thing with 2 dry paper towels, and cover with tin foil to give your experiment the same atmosphere, minus the water.

Keep it in the same place on the counter, and every day at the same time look at them to compare the differences.  Write down your differences each day.

We started to see the corn swell up in the wet atmosphere.

And 9 days later.....  CHECK this out!

Cleaning-Hard water

I found this idea on pinterest, and it worked like a charm!

My spray nozzle at the sink was all lime scale from hard water.

I used a baggie, put some vinegar in it.  Wrapped it around the front, and held it on with a rubber band.  Let it soak there for a couple hours.

Next, wipe it down, and it's clean as new. :)

So clean you can see the reflection of me taking the picture in the nozzle. :)

Months cut and paste-Kindergarten

We have our calendar presentation board we made a long time ago, which we use to introduce the months and days.  But added a fun worksheet for learning the month order.

Months cut and paste-Kindergarten version.  You can lightly see in this picture that the months are posted on this form, for a new learner to help remember the order.  Trick is....you can't just match them.  You have to do it in order to get used to saying them in order.

Click here to download and print this file for yourself.

Now you could use this once, and cut and paste.  Or you could laminate the right side, cut apart and match them over and over again! :)

But Monkey was needing some extra fun worksheet help.  So I made a couple.

Months cut and paste version.

This file is to retain the knowledge...does not have the helpful words written in the other boxes like the kindergarten version for first time learning.

Or you could laminate the months and do it again and again! ;)

Months Draw-a-Line

We have our calendar presentation board we made a long time ago, which we use to introduce the months and days.

But Monkey was needing some extra fun worksheet help on learning the month order.  So I made a couple worksheets for him.

First one is a draw a line to match the month with the number.

Click here to download this file.

We like to do this in a sheet protector with a dry erase marker so we can do it over and over again.

Valentines Day

Luke 10:27
"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.'"

I believe Love is an important thing.  The Bible clearly says that!

Just remember to celebrate it more than one day a year! :)

It is a good thing to take some time to make an extra special effort in showing your love every once in a while.  However, I try not to buy into all the hype of the holidays that come around.  So we make it special in a non material/purchasing way.

We had heart shaped food for every meal, and enjoyed family time watching a movie together.
We also made homemade heart decorations/crafts, and homemade heart shaped cards and things for daddy, verses store bought things. :)

Heart shaped Pancakes for breakfast.

Heart shaped pepperoni bread.

What did you do special for valentines day?

Revelation 17:14

 Memory Verse

Revelation 17:14 Verse Match for my 2nd grader.

You have 2 copies of the verse.  Cut on apart and use the other one underneath to match it up.  After a while you will be able to put the verse in order without using the bottom piece to match the letters up!

Revelation 17:14 Verse Tracing for my kindergartener.

Download the file here.  Trace the verse while saying it.

Use a sheet protector and dry erase marker and you can do this again and again without printing it multiple times!

Enjoy learning God's Word!

**Feel free to use all of my materials.  Please just leave my website on the bottom of the page.

Pump up the music

I saw this idea on Pinterest.  And it works!

I was using my iPhone to listen to music while we were on vacation at a hotel.  Well to pump up the volume put it in a bowl.  The sound bounces out and makes it sound louder!  Great little trick.

Plaque-Psalm 15

After doing my devotions through Psalm 15, I was inspired.  I like to dabble in graphic design type things.   So I made this plaque for myself from the words of Psalm 15....not every single word.  But most of it.

Now to print and hang.... :)

Craft-Gift Idea

A homemade gift idea.

First I bought a 4"x6' board from Fleet Farm.  Then I painted the front and sides black.

After it dried I added to eye screws to the sides.  Then attached a ribbon from one to the other.  White or black.

Then I attached picture hanging brackets to the back so they can hang it.

Last, I used my photography letters, and spelled my last name.  Matting the pictures, each to a white piece of cardstock for extra looks. Attach the letters in order, of course, with little clips.  I chose little clips that look like miniature clothes pins found in the craft section of most stores.  Now you are ready to hang it up, or spell someone else's name and give it away as a great personalized gift!

My letters are available for purchase.  Comment if you want to know more.

Happy Crafting!

Unusual Attire

Since I was a kid, my dad said we were not allowed to wear our pajamas out of the bedroom.  I've naturally adapted to that and really dislike the idea of wearing pajamas except for while you are sleeping.

Last Sunday I quickly was admitted to the hospital.  I reluctantly went to urgent care for pain in my abdomen and on the right side.  After hours of testing and waiting they ruled appendicitis and called in the surgeon.  He promptly came and I didn't even have time to make this a realization....that I was going to have surgery.  Yikes.  I did not go to urgent care to have surgery....I went thinking they'd give me meds or something for the pain, or to tell me it would go away on it's own.  Well, I went in at 1:30, did blood work, waited, CTscan, waited, another doctor came in waited, brought me to the hospital room(5:00), and people just kept coming in the room after that.  Next thing I know they're putting me under (7:30), and what seemed like 2 seconds later, I was sitting up in the hospital room (10:00) again and my husband, mom and kids and sister were all walking into the room.  But I looked up at the clock, and realized I just lost 2 1/2 hours of my life. :)

So I spent the night and was released Monday afternoon.  But I've been cut into, and I have to lie down, and I can't get up by myself, needless to say the only thing I could wear was pajamas. :)

I was ok with it the first two days because I slept almost all day anyway, and I still wasn't completely with it.  Monday and Tuesday are a blur.  Not even really sure they happened. :)

But come Thursday night and I'm still wearing the same thing....uh...this is rather unusual attire.  My children even said to me, why are you wearing your pajamas?!  They know the rule!  And now I'm a little more up and awake and more with it.  And realizing people are coming to my house to visit me, and I'm in my pajamas! ;)

Here it is Sunday morning, I'm quickly getting tired from sitting at the computer, still in my same pajamas. :)  And I'm ok with it.  You should be too.  After all, I just had surgery, even though I don't remember a thing. :)  Atleast I have the scars to prove it since my memory won't count on that one.  heehee.

Just a random babble for you all. :)  I need to go lay down now.
