The Fair

We just got back from an exciting week at the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna. It's the largest county fair in Minnesota. It's actually quite big. The fair ran from Tuesday till Sunday. We went 5 times! This is the most we've ever gone to the fair. It was fun though. The boys have never been to anything like this before. I think they loved it. Today we rode rides at the Midway. They had a blast. I would just like to know where all of these people come from. The people that you only see at the fair. The people that you look at and go, "Wow". Why don't we ever see these people any other time of the year. Do they stay locked in their houses or trucks or holes or whatever they live in all year until the fair starts. And then like a trail of ants headed for a sucker they come out of the woodwork. And of course, they head straight for the midway and all the rides. They'll spend $200 trying to get a basketball in a bent rim so they can win their girlfriend a stuffed SpongeBob. This year was even better cause the World of Wonders was there. This is one of the last side shows in the country. For $5 or so you can see all these people. The woman with 2 heads, the giant man, the woman that turns into a gorilla, the woman with the shrunken head. No, we did not go see it. But, as I said, we went to the fair 5 times and had a blast and ate lots of good food. Cheese Curds, Corn Dogs, Fries, Ofda Tacos, Greek Kabobs and Greek Sandwiches, Malts, Mini-Donuts, Old-Fashioned Root Beer, Blooming Onion, just to name a few! Now, summer's winding down. But first, we've got camping Labor Day weekend!

what's in a name

Depending on who's reading this.... either you've heard jokes about our last name.... i.e. Oh Stephanie you finally found Mr. Right! or you've told a joke about our last name.... either way.... it happens.

We've been preparing Monkey about how his last name is going to change. At first he was very adamantly against it. NO way, my name is not going to be Wright. But the more we talk about it the more he's coming around to the idea of having the same last name as Mom and Dad.

Well, he has not heard any jokes about our last name yet, but he kinda made one up.

He says.... Mom how about this, we can change my name to "Monkey" Left Wright. ha ha ha ha ha....

I give him credit for that. It was pretty good and he put it together all on his own.

tooth fairy

Last night we were sitting around the dinner table with Dana, Lyle, Alexis and Elijah. Elijah hit his tooth kinda hard with the fork, and then started crying because he hasn't lost a tooth yet and didn't realize that was supposed to happen. So we started talking to him about how it's ok, and it's a good thing and that if it does fall out the tooth fairy will come and leave him a surprise.
As a side note... Monkey and I have been watching this educational cartoon called word world, and one of the episodes is about loosing your first tooth and the tooth fairy left him a lollipop under his pillow in the cartoon.
So anyway....here we are talking about the tooth fairy and Monkey pipes in.... I know the surprise, I will tell you the surprise but you can't tell anyone else! I will only tell you guys here at the table, but you have to promise not to tell anyone else, I know it, do you want to know?.... It's a PICKLE AND A NICKLE!!!!
We said, what?! And we all started laughing, it was quite random.
Is that what the tooth fairy gives you when you lose your first tooth?! Hmmmmm.. interesting.
Dana said, what do you get when you lose your second tooth, a dime and a lime?! ha ha ha ha ha

So Funny!

Oh the things kids say

Funny how we can understand each other with so many of the same things meaning different things....

The fair is going to be in town next week, so we were talking about all the fun treats they will have there. Cotton candy, cheese curds, caramel apples, mini donuts.....
Monkey- "I get to have as many donuts as I want! How about 3 mom, does that sound good." ha ha ha
Mom- "not many donuts, MINI Donuts...." Well that really cleared it up!
"They are small. You'll see"

They can't wait!
Me either!
It only comes once a year anyway.

Right after this TJ pulls into the Hy-Vee parking lot. He just barely has pulled in and Monkey says... "Oh just pick a spot already."
EXCUSE ME?!?!? TJ Drove around a while longer. :) ha ha ha ha

I don't remember saying that before so not sure where he got that. We're going to blame it on Grandma Tami! Ha ha ha ha Grandma Tami, don't worry we'll "blame" you for good things too. :)
